Moving Big Objects by Hand: one man’s fixation
Kraft Paper Sketchbook posted by Miguel Herranz on Urbansketchers. Love the Keith Jarrett piano piece as well. Other sketchbook videos by the same artist here. Flicker site here.
Notes on Process
Degas: Only when he no longer knows what he is doing does the painter do good things.
Juan Gris: You are lost the instant you know what the result will be.
Paul Gardner: A painting is never finished – it simply stops in interesting places.
Robert Motherwell: In the brush doing what it’s doing, it will stumble on what one couldn’t do oneself.
Jung: The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity.
Albert Szant-Gyorgyi: A discovery is said to be an accident meeting a prepared mind.
Rumi: Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.
Picasso: For me each painting is a study. I say to myself, I am going one day to finish it, make a finished thing of it. But as soon as I start to finish it, it becomes another painting, and I think I am going to redo it. Well, it is always something else in the end. If I retouch, I make a new painting.
